Occupational Therapists (OT’s) assist people of all ages by improving their ability to perform tasks in their daily living and working environments. They work with individuals who have conditions that are developmentally, mentally, physically, and socially or emotionally challenging, through maintaining &/or and enhancing their skill levels. Occupational Therapists help clients with improvements in their basic abilities and to compensate for loss of function, should it occur. Our goals are independence, productivity and satisfaction.
Occupational therapists assist usually by assessing what types of problems exist, and what interventions are most suitable. We may use methods that address the needs of - temporary or permanent disabilities, illness or accidental disability, long or short term medical conditions, work related or in the home / leisure activities. We may work with men or women alike, young children or the elderly, clients performing sedentary tasks such as computing to the industrial worker, simple tasks such as getting dressed to complicated tasks such as cooking a meal for a large number of people.
Physical exercises may be used to increase strength &/or dexterity, while other activities may be chosen to adapt to memory or visual deficits. For example, a person with co-ordination problems might be assigned exercises to improve hand-eye co-ordination, or a client with short-term memory loss might be encouraged to make lists to aid recall, and memory retention.
Occupational Therapists collaborate with the client, with other health care professionals, possibly the clients employer, insurance company and doctor to obtain the best possible solution for the client. We evaluate the problems being experienced and modify the environment so that the work can be as successfully completed as possible.

Many people today suffer from joint and muscle stiffness causing pain and discomfort. Back, neck, shoulder, arm and leg pain result from physical injury, bad posture or tension. Remedial Massage treatment is very effective in dealing with joint and muscular problems, muscle tension and the associated problems that can arise from the short and long term effects of these conditions.
It can be used to great effect for rehabilitation, as well as aches and strains caused by everyday activities such as house work, gardening, walking and sitting at a computer for long periods of time. Remedial massage helps to remedy tension and posture, easing muscular aches and pains.
Sports Massage offers distinct advantages for pre-event, event, post-event and rehabilitation treatment and is increasingly regarded by professional athletes and coaches as playing an essential role in enhancing athletic performance and preventing injury.
Injury or stiffness can immobilise joints. Massage increases flexibility and range of movement. Along with improved circulation, the breakdown &/or removal of scar tissue, and relaxation of muscles and the connecting joints can improve healing, which then improves joint mobility. The treatment/s assists injury through detection of muscle dysfunction. It can also promote faster recovery after training and competition at both physical and psychological levels.

Exercise Physiologists are professionals from within the field of exercise or sports science, specialising in health, fitness and exercise rehabilitation streams.
Practitioners can match the immediate and long term needs of the client with appropriate exercise interventions, and integrate strategies to promote the physical abilities (fitness, strength, endurance, movement activities and weight loss) of their client in any given task. Interventions will rarely only involve physical activity and as a consequence the Exercise Physiologist does not practice in isolation but will collaborate with other recognised health practitioners.
An Exercise Physiologist is ideally suited when providing professional services in the area of exercise or activities as apart of treatment strategy in physical rehabilitation, as a preventative strategy for disease prevention, providing work hardening as part of establishing and sustaining functional independence, and general and specific sports training needs.
